Fact Sheet for Interpreter Services:

Purpose:
Trained Interpreting Staff provides interpretation services to all patients/families with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Interpreter Services include facilitating communication between CMH staff and patients/families, facilitate over the phone communication between CMH staff and patients/families when available, assist with sight or written translation of medical information, discharge instructions and consent forms.

Coverage:
Interpreting Services (all languages) are available by previous request and for emergencies by paging (816) 821-1381 or by calling (816) 234-3474. A Spanish Speaking interpreter is available on site seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Telephone resources:
Dual Handset telephones are available in Same Day Surgery, Intensive Care Nursery, Orthopedic Clinic, Outpatient Pharmacy, Teen Clinic Admissions, Children's Mercy South and Children's Mercy Northland Clinic.

Language Line is a long distance interpreting line is available to staff by calling 1-800-874-9426, the identification number is 232028 and the password is the caller's department number.
