Fact Sheet for Interpreter
Trained Interpreting Staff provides interpretation
services to all patients/families with Limited English Proficiency
(LEP). Interpreter Services include facilitating communication
between CMH staff and patients/families, facilitate over the phone
communication between CMH staff and patients/families when
available, assist with sight or written translation of medical
information, discharge instructions and consent forms.
Interpreting Services (all languages) are available by
previous request and for emergencies by paging (816) 821-1381 or by
calling (816) 234-3474. A Spanish Speaking interpreter is available
on site seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Dual Handset telephones are available in Same Day Surgery,
Intensive Care Nursery, Orthopedic Clinic, Outpatient Pharmacy,
Teen Clinic Admissions, Children's Mercy South and Children's Mercy
Language Line is a long distance interpreting line is available
to staff by calling 1-800-874-9426, the identification number is
232028 and the password is the caller's department number.
