The nursery at Children's Mercy Hospital provides level IV intensive care and the most advanced technology in neonatal and surgical care available in the region. We provide comprehensive evaluation and management of complex cases throughout the spectrum of pediatric and surgical subspecialties.

Clinic-Based Services

Special Care Clinic
Staffed by pediatricians, a developmental psychologist, nurse practitioners, and neonatal fellows from the Division of Neonatology, the Special Care Clinic continues care for babies who have ongoing and often complex medical and developmental needs after discharge. The clinic serves as a resource for primary care physicians in the community who assume the medical management of these infants.

Infant Tracheostomy and Home Ventilator Clinic
Infant Tracheostomy and Home Ventilator Clinic is a multidisciplinary service designed to care for the primary needs of infants with tracheostomy and home ventilation.

NEON Clinic
In the NEON Clinic, neonatologists provide evaluation and assessment of infants who received specialized care in our NICU, such as those who had whole body cooling, ECMO, or a congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

Fetal Health Center
The new Elizabeth J. Ferrell Fetal Health Center (FHC), in collaboration with the University of Missouri- Kansas City Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, offers services to pregnant women with identified fetal malformations.
