Providers in our DAY Clinic offer telehealth and in-person appointments. For your first visit, we prefer you attend in person, if possible. Residents of Kansas or Missouri can request other appointments be held via telehealth.

If your appointment is scheduled as a telehealth session, a Children’s Mercy team member will send you a link by text message and email. This requires you to set up a free account on our telehealth platform. It helps protect your security and privacy. Tech support is available if needed.

Appointments with your DAY Clinic providers will be during business hours Monday through Friday. Group therapy sessions may meet in the evening or on the weekend. Appointments are not available, and patients are not seen, on weekends, national holidays or any time the outpatient facility is closed.

A primary goal of the DAY Clinic is to increase your access to mental health services where you live, work and play. At the end of your treatment at our clinic, we will decide and share the best place for you to receive continued support, if needed. During the program, you will also learn coping skills to use in daily life. These custom post-treatment plans will be discussed between you and your care team.

The DAY Clinic team will make efforts to pair you with the provider who best suits your needs. Due to the demands of the clinic, switching providers is not possible at this time. We ask you to bring up any concerns with the treatment team so we can provide you with a positive experience.

The DAY Clinic team meets regularly to review and discuss patient progress within the clinic. We will also collaborate with outside community providers as needed.

We can measure your progress in many ways, including observations and reports from you, your family and your providers. Clinical rating scales for depression, anxiety and other concerns are also helpful. Your DAY Clinic team will check these items throughout your treatment with us.

Children’s Mercy has on-call psychiatrists and psychologists who can address any urgent concerns that may happen after-hours. If there is an imminent safety concern, we recommend an assessment in an Emergency Department. The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline number, 988, is also a valuable 24-hour resource.

Yes. Children’s Mercy contracts with many insurance plans and networks to provide health care services to their participants. You can find a list of plans we contract with and accept at childrensmercy.org/your-visit/billing-and-insurance. Participation with these plans is not a guarantee of payment or coverage. Most insurance companies require a referral or prior authorization for coverage of services. It is important to check with your insurance plan to make sure your specific benefits include coverage for services at Children’s Mercy. If you have questions about your benefits and coverage, please contact your insurance carrier directly.

We know that schedule change and things come up. If you are not able to make your scheduled appointment time, call the clinic schedulers to reschedule at (816) 234-3674. We will make every effort to find you a convenient appointment time. If you need to cancel an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the time to someone who is waiting for treatment.
