Help Our Kids: John and Hillary Give Back

Honoring the “care” in caregiver

John and Hillary are the proud adoptive parents of four beautiful children: Ella Kate, Caroline, Hudson and Anneliese. Each child has special needs that require medical intervention, and all were treated at Children’s Mercy.

Over the years, this incredible family has spent quite a bit of time with us. Their children were seen in multiple clinics by a variety of our top-notch therapists, physicians and other care providers. “At every turn, our family is greeted with friendliness, treated with respect,” mom Hillary said, “and our children are cared for with patience and joy.”

In an open letter to Children’s Mercy and our entire community, Hillary shared how very impressed she was with the quality of care, the attention to detail and excellence exhibited visit after visit and by people serving in all capacities. She pointed out that each and every Children’s Mercy care provider who served her family along the way contributed to the progress and well-being of her very special kids.

It was in the spirit of that gratitude for the impact the team at Children’s Mercy made on the lives of their children – and their own lives – that the Pattons made a special gift in their honor. “We cannot imagine a more delightful way to engage in saying thanks than providing a way for more children to experience this world-class care,” Hillary shared in her letter.
