Catherine has volunteered at Children’s Mercy for four years, but she’s no stranger to the hospital. As a child, Catherine was a patient here at Children’s Mercy, receiving care for challenges related to her cerebral palsy.
During her time as a patient, she got to know the hospital staff and doctors well and considers Children’s Mercy a “special place.” “I’ll always be grateful for the outstanding medical care I received,” she said. “Children’s Mercy changed my life.”
Now, as an adult, Catherine decided to become a volunteer. Catherine started as a Guest Services volunteer, then moved over to the Kreamer Resource Center where she spends her volunteer hours checking out books to families, answering the phone, booking the conference room and assisting families in accessing helpful information and resources.
