Your First Day

Children's Mercy Orientation (CMO)

We are excited to have you join our team! Please note, our orientation has recently changed due to COVID-19 precautions. Here is what you need to know.

Business casual clothing is recommended for CMO. Please do not wear inappropriate, sheer or revealing clothing. You may want to bring a sweater or a jacket to orientation, as our meeting rooms may get chilly.

Be sure to arrive at your scheduled time given to you by your recruiter. If you are early, please wait in your vehicle until 5 minutes before your scheduled time to come in, take your badge picture, and turn in your new hire paperwork.

Due to COVID, masks are required at orientation. If you forget to bring one, we will have extras on-hand to provide for your use.

What to bring

  • Documents showing your identity and authorization to work, which are used to complete your I-9. Visit the Acceptable Documents page on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website for more information.

  • Your Medical Records Signature form, if applicable.

  • A copy of your license or registration, if applicable, and your Basic Life Support card, if you will be providing direct patient care

Where to park

Children’s Mercy Orientation (CMO) takes place at the Children’s Mercy Research Institute located at 2401 Gillham Road (view map).

If you drive to CMO, please park in the Visitor Parking Lot located at the Adele Hall Campus.  Show the guard your parking pass that was provided to you in your offer letter. We ask that you please park on the lowest level, Turquoise Train, to allow our patients and families parking availability in the upper levels. You will take the elevator up to the Ground Level and enter the hospital. Take the next set of elevators, Moon Elevators, to the 1st floor.

If you are not driving to CMO, please enter using the main entrance in the circle drive. Once in the hospital, come around towards the volunteer desk and take the first set of elevators past the volunteer desk, Moon Elevators, to the first floor.

Once on the 1st floor, you will be greeted by a Human Resources representative and directed to the entrance of the Children’s Mercy Research Institute. Upon entry to the CMRI, you will be asked to complete a brief health screen and temperature check. Someone will then guide you to complete the requirements for orientation.
