Your First Day

Children's Mercy Orientation (CMO)

We are excited to have you join our team! Below is information you need to know about CMO.

Business casual clothing is recommended for CMO. Do not wear jeans, T-shirts, sweats, sheer or revealing clothing. You may want to bring a sweater or a jacket to orientation, as our meeting rooms may be get chilly.

Coffee, water and light breakfast snacks will be provided.

Be sure to arrive by 7:45 a.m. to take your badge picture and turn in your new hire paperwork. 

What to bring

 

  • Bank routing and account numbers to enroll in direct deposit.

  • Documents showing your identity and authorization to work, which are used to complete your I-9. Visit the Acceptable Documents page on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website for more information.

  • Your Medical Records Signature form, if applicable.

  • A copy of your license or registration, if applicable, and your Basic Life Support card, if you will be providing direct patient care

Where to park


Children’s Mercy Orientation (CMO) takes place at the Don Chisholm building located at 610 E. 22
nd Street, at the intersection of 22nd Street and Holmes. Please note Holmes is a one-way northbound road. 

If you drive to CMO, please park in the rear Visitor Parking Only Lot on the lower level.  The entrance is on Holmes north of 22nd Street. Take the stairs to the 1st floor, then take the elevator to the 2nd floor. If you are unable to take the stairs, you may park on the upper level and take the elevator to the 2nd floor.

If you are not driving to CMO, please enter using the upper-level entrance off 22nd Street and take the elevator to the 2nd floor.

Once on the 2nd floor, follow the signage to Classroom A. You will be greeted by a Human Resources representative who will guide you to the designated area.

Your employment status and whether you are an employee or non-employee will determine when your CMO ends. (Non-employees provide services at or on behalf of Children’s Mercy but are not employed by Children’s Mercy.)

  • You will be dismissed at 10:45 a.m. after completing the Occupational Health requirements if you are a non-employee.

  • You will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. if you are a temporary, part-time or PRN non-benefits eligible employee.

  • You will be dismissed mid-afternoon if you are a full-time employee.

Please check your offer letter carefully for details regarding where to report on your second day. If you aren't sure, please contact your new supervisor.
