Overview
The Center for Sports Medicine at Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics is one of the
nation’s premiere sports medicine programs specifically focused on caring for the youth
and adolescent athlete. Through clinical care, research, and an entire team of specialists,
we are looking to improve how young athletes are cared for today and into the future.
Each year a rising number of injuries occur in youth and adolescent athletes while
participating in sports. The Center for Sports Medicine offers treatment by experts who
are fellowship-trained in sports medicine and understand the growing bodies of young
athletes. We are one of only a handful of programs in the country with pediatric-trained
sports medicine specialists working as a team to combine surgical, non-surgical, medical,
rehabilitation, and research to get your athlete back in the game safely!
As part of Children’s Mercy Hospital network, the Center for Sports Medicine is also
supported by the region’s most comprehensive faculty of pediatric subspecialists.
Our multi-disciplinary team provides access to the region’s most sophisticated radiology
imaging including a 3T MRI to provide high-definition diagnostic imaging. Our concussion
team works with specialists dedicated to complex concussion care and offers the
availability of ImPACT™ neurocognitive testing. Our team of physical
therapists offers sports-specific rehabilitation and injury prevention to facilitate
a quick and safe return to participation.
