Biofeedback Therapy
Biofeedback therapy
Biofeedback therapy is a safe, painless technique by which people are trained to improve their health, using signals from their own bodies. Children's Mercy's Biofeedback Center teaches children skills that help to reduce stress, balance their nervous system, and reduce or eliminate physical symptoms. These self-regulation skills allow children to feel more in control of their bodies and symptoms. Once children learn biofeedback techniques, they have a lifetime skill.
How biofeedback therapy works
Electronic biofeedback sensors are connected to the forehead and fingers to provide computerized information about muscle tension, hand temperature, and hand moisture levels. The biofeedback machine acts as a kind of sixth sense, allowing children to see or hear activity inside their bodies. A certified biofeedback professional uses computer readouts to provide information about your body.
After your child is referred to our center
When biofeedback is recommended by a member of the treatment team, you will be asked to contact the biofeedback service at (816) 983-6750. One of the biofeedback professionals will answer your questions about billing and scheduling.
