Internal Medicine Curriculum

Residents participate in a "4+1 curriculum" while rotating on Internal Medicine.  During each 12- week IM curriculum block, residents complete two 4-week inpatient rotations, two 1-week ambulatory rotations and one 2-week elective rotation.  During the 2-week elective rotation, residents participate in three half-day continuity clinic.

"+1 Ambulatory weeks" are one-week rotations designed to accentuate the ambulatory training of our combined residents.  During this time, residents complete at least four half-day sessions in their continuity clinic as well as rotate through the following specialty clinics:

  • Med-Psych Clinic
  • Geriatric Assessment Clinic
  • Read Set Grow (Failure to Thrive) Clinic
  • Pain management Clinic
  • ADHD clinic
  • Survive and Thrive Oncology Clinic
  • Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic
  • Travel Clinic
  • Wound Management Clinic
  • Immunization Clinic
  • Allergy – Immunology Clinic
  • Adolescent and Teen Sub-specialty Clinic
  • Other – includes all subspecialty clinics at our affiliate sites, selected to meet the individual training needs of the resident
