5 harmless April Fool’s Day pranks to play on kids

Confetti, laughing emojis, party horns and a fake bug spread out on a table with April Fools text.

Well, it’s that time of year again – April Fool’s Day. This year is a good time for some light-hearted, harmless pranks parents can play on kids.

1. Late for school

After bedtime, set your clocks ahead and rush around in the morning like you are late. You’ll be able to have time to stop for a special breakfast treat, which is one of the best type of pranks!

2. Tattoo

This one you may have to plan ahead to buy a good one, but reveal a new tattoo, temporary of course. To add to the prank, wrap it up like it’s brand new so the anticipation grows.

3. Brown “E”s

An oldie, but a goodie. Share that there are brownies in the kitchen. But, instead of the delicious chocolate dessert, have a covered pan hiding cardboard brown letter Es.

4. School on Saturday

Break the “bad news” to them that school will have to add classes on Saturday until summer starts. You could add that because of so many virtual learning days, that’s what they have to do.

5. Fake prank

Tell your kids you have a big prank planned, and it will happen when they least expect it. Keep them on their toes all day, but the prank is there is no prank.
