Tips for healthy to-go snacks

healthy snacks for kids

We’ve all been there. You’re not quite home yet, but you know that if your kid doesn’t eat something in the next 5 minutes, all you-know-what will break loose.

When you're packing up all your to-go snacks, remember to throw in some healthy options. Not only are they important for good nutrition, but they help encourage healthy eating habits.

Think about easy to-go snacks that include 2-3 food groups – not only are they healthy, but they keep your kids full longer.

Some fun ideas to try:

  • Trail Mix - any combo of nuts, dried fruit, toasted coconut, chocolate chips, cereal, Goldfish, pretzels
  • Meat and cheese on crackers
  • Nutty Grahams - peanut butter/graham cracker sandwiches
  • Ants on a log – celery filled with peanut butter and topped with raisins
  • Fruit kabobs – fruit and cheese skewered on pretzel sticks
  • Cheesy popcorn – Microwave popcorn sprinkled with parmesan cheese
