Kansas City Community of Bilingual Practice

Kansas City Community of Bilingual Practices

The Kansas City Community of Bilingual Practice (KC CBP) is an active community of bilingual health and human services professionals, the programs that educate them, and organizations that provide services to non-English speakers. We are dedicated to sharing knowledge and growing stronger networks to effectively engage within our multi-lingual community.

The Kansas City Community of Bilingual Practice (KC CBP) three-fold goal

Following the Community of Practice model, KC CBP activities are member-led and defined. We promote continuous learning, cultural understanding, and the professionalization of the use of language in health and human services. All activities focus on one or more of our three aims:

  • Connections: To create new opportunities for connections among bilingual practitioners and their organizations, as well as between community members and health and human services providers.

  • Capacity: To increase the capacity in the Kansas City metropolitan area for providing high-quality, culturally informed health and human services to community members who speak a language other than English.

  • Career Pathways: To cultivate career pathways for bilingual community members wanting to enter or grow in the health and human services fields.

Participation is open to everyone interested in our community and committed to our Code of Conduct.
