Advance trauma-informed care delivery and education through the Council on Violence Prevention and respective workgroups.

  • Implemented suicide screening pilots with teens ages 12 and above in the Teen Clinic, Children’s Mercy North UCC and Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas Endocrinology Clinics

  • Safe and Healthy Families Clinic (SAHF) started seeing patients in the Fall of 2013A

  • Received approval to expand the family therapy team to 8 clinical social workers with the addition of 2 fulltime clinicians and a behavioral health representative

  • Received approval to implement an Acute Mental Health Screening Pilot to begin at the Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas ED

  • Progress being made in 20+ initiatives through work of CoVP’s “Trauma Informed Care Workgroup” including:

  • Child Abuse Research Initiative: 14 publications, 9 research presentations, 5 grants obtained, 8 media spots, 2 legislative testimony

  • Course director and course leadership of Missouri SAFE-CARE network of medical providers for abused children

  • 3 fellows have completed their three year Fellowship in our ACGME accredited Child Abuse Pediatrics (CAP) Fellowship (CMH is 1 of only 20 fellowship programs in Child Abuse Pediatrics in the US); CAP Fellowship at CMH has a position for a new fellow each year

  • 17 CoVP research proposals and grants, 17 publications, 38 presentations, 20 media spots, and 1 legislative testimony

  • Dr. Michelle Haley’s pilot clinic – KU/CMH collaboration – KCCC in Kansas City, Kansas

  • Participant in national CME planning committee for AAP sponsored Trauma Informed Care conference to be held in San Francisco, July 2015
