Providing comfort for parents

Any time your child is away from you during surgery is nerve-wracking for you and your family. The EASE app provides secure, live text message updates from your child’s surgical team during their procedure.

As always, your child’s medical team will keep you updated in person and by phone throughout the surgery. The EASE app allows you to have more frequent photo and text updates to supplement the in-person updates from your care providers. You can also choose to automatically share these updates with family and friends to provide ongoing communications and take the burden of passing along messages to everyone.

Secure, private messaging from surgery team

The EASE app is HIPAA compliant and used by hospitals across the country to bring peace of mind and decrease anxiety for families while they are in the waiting room. The app uses 256-bit encryption, similar to what online banking platforms use, to ensure your family’s privacy is protected. All messages disappear within 60 seconds of viewing and are deleted from the server every night for additional security.

Currently, the EASE app is available to families with children who are having a having a procedure or surgery that will take 90 minutes or longer at Children’s Mercy. We hope to make it available to families for all types of surgical procedures in the future.
