Kohl's and Children's Mercy are committed to supporting Strong, Talented, Authentic and Resilient kids. That's why we've teamed up to offer the Kohl's and Children's Mercy STAR Power Program, a community-outreach program providing classroom-based education and resources for Kansas City-area schools, as well as public service announcements.

About Our Partnership

The Kohl's and Children's Mercy S.T.A.R. Power program is made possible with a $284,829 grant from Kohl's. Since the year 2000, Kohl's has gifted more than $2.6 million to Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. The program content is presented in four interactive sessions throughout the school year:

  • Healthy Eating
  • Movement
  • Relaxation
  • Self Esteem

For the 2013-2014 school year, the Kohl's and Children's Mercy STAR Power program is targeting 3rd and 4th grade levels. Classroom visits include interactive presentations, group discussions, expressive activities and hands-on FUN! The visit is led by a Children's Mercy Hospital Child Life Specialist.

Classroom visits are FREE! All materials are included. Classroom visits are approximately 45 minutes but can be adjusted according to your schedule. Small or large groups can be accommodated. To request a visit, submit a Visit Request Form or contact Missy Stover at for more information.
