Ramona began her career as a Registered Nurse 44 years ago. She has worked at Children’s Mercy for the past 18 years, and has been a Physician Services Regional Representative since July 2008. Before coming to Physician Services she worked in the Gastroenterology Abdominal Pain Clinic for 10 years. Throughout her career, Ramona has worked in Adult and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Emergency Department, and Pediatric Home Care and Pediatric Psychiatry.
In Ramona’s role as Regional Representative, she travels to two thirds of Missouri and the northern quarter of Arkansas, calling on pediatric and family medicine practices. She provides updates on programs, services, 800-GO-MERCY, medical and nursing educational opportunities available, and electronic medical records access.
Ramona was born in Paola, Kansas where she graduated from Paola High School. She attended Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Scott, Kansas where she graduated with her diploma in nursing in 1970. After graduation she worked in Paola for a year before returning to Children’s Mercy to work in the Emergency Department.
Ramona lives in South Kansas City. She has one “adopted” son who is 27 and lives in Atlanta. Jon Erik is the son God gave her and is the light of her life.
In her spare time, Ramona enjoys being medical advisor to the American Cancer Society’s African American Breast Cancer Support Group, painting in oils and acrylics, decorating for Christmas, and entertaining non-stop throughout the holiday season.
