The Division of
Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine has been built upon the foundation of
a multidisciplinary team model of care for children who have a wide
variety of acute and chronic respiratory and sleep disorders. Our
primary mission is to provide comprehensive medical, nutritional,
and psychosocial care to our patients and their families, along
with related educational services to them and their primary care
providers.
Seven board certified pulmonary physicians comprise our academic
faculty, three of whom are board certified in sleep medicine. Our
care team includes eight clinic nurses, six clinical nurse
practitioners, five pediatric respiratory therapists/pulmonary
function technologists, three medical social workers, two
dieticians, two clinical psychologists, one PhD behavioral sleep
psychologist, a clinical pharmacologist, 11 registered
polysomnography technologists and two clinical research
coordinators.
Education of other health professionals provides the opportunity to
extend our "medical home" concept into their community practices.
In this way, we support good communication and continuity of care
for our shared patients.
