Facilitated Telemedicine Visits at a Children’s Mercy Regional Outreach Clinic
Children’s Mercy has Facilitated Telemedicine visits where the patient goes to a Children’s Mercy regional outreach clinic for the appointment. This type of Telemedicine visit is used when a provider needs to do a more in-depth physical exam than what can be done during a Telehealth patient home visit.
- Meet with a Telemedicine nurse. They will run the equipment and help with communication between you and the provider.
- The provider is somewhere else and joins the appointment using a robot.
- The robot has a camera that the nurse uses to let the provider examine the patient just like when seeing the patient in person.
- A handheld camera that helps the provider to see things up close – like the skin, nose, or throat.
- An otoscope to look in the ears.
- A stethoscope that lets the provider listen to lungs, heart, and stomach.
