Innovation The Keeps Care Close to Home

From uncertainty to coordinated care close to home — Maddie's journey shows how innovation changes what's possible. Through March 31, every gift is doubled.

Double my impact
A toddler with blonde hair and a big smile stands on a green couch under a big sign that says “Happy Heart Month, Evelyn! Heart Transplant November 17th.” She’s wearing a blue shirt, and she has tape and a cotton ball on one inner arm, as if she just had blood drawn.

Heart Transplant: Evelyn’s Story

This playful and opinionated toddler was born with two major heart conditions: critical aortic stenosis and severe left ventricular dysfunction. Our Fetal Health Center began monitoring Evelyn at 2weeks gestation, and our Heart and Transplant Centers collaborated on her treatment plan once she was born. Supported by the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit while she waited, Evelyn got her new heart on her 6-month birthday.
