Thanks to the generosity of Kansas City's own PGA golfing great Tom Watson, the Tom Watson Emergency Department opened in 2011. It is the only pediatric emergency-service provider in the southern half of metropolitan Kansas City, with pediatric physicians and pediatric nurses available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Having an Emergency Department at Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas allows us to provide the best care to children with immediate needs, including access to some pediatric surgical and radiology specialties. In addition to our 24/7 onsite ambulance transport team, we also accept outside ambulance traffic.
Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas is home to more pediatric specialists than any other health system in the region. Between the hospital and our College Boulevard Clinics across the street, we offer nearly 30 pediatric specialty clinics. At Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas, our goal is to get your child well and home as quickly as possible. If you child does need to stay in the hospital, our inpatient unit can help get your child on the road to recovery. Our unit is comprised of 53 inpatient beds with all private rooms. Our pediatric inpatient hospitalists are available 24 hours a day to manage inpatient care, answer questions or assist your child’s primary care physician. We provide the care your child needs in a setting designed to make him or her as comfortable as possible.
The Imaging Center offers convenient access to diagnostic radiology procedures performed by highly skilled, pediatric specialists. Services include: X-rays, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, CT Scan and MRI.
The Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas laboratory specializes in the unique needs of children. Our phlebotomists and medical technologists know how to put a child at ease and collect specimens with minimal discomfort for the patient.
The laboratory provides a comprehensive menu of services for Children’s Mercy and community physicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Walk-ins are welcome:
Monday – Friday — 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday — 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
