Red Flag Signs
RED FLAGS to consider:
- Meconium not passed in first 48 hours as a newborn
- Onset before 1 month of age
- Family history of Hirschsprung disease
- Blood in the stools with fever
- Failure to thrive
- Abnormal lower extremity neurologic exam (decreased reflexes, tone, or strength)
- Sacral dimple or tuft of hair on spine
- Perianal fistula or scars
- Concern for cystic fibrosis
