Clinical Ethics Consult Service

The Clinical Ethics Consult Service (CECS) evolved from the ethics consults provided by the Children’s Mercy Ethics Committee. Oversight of the CECS moved under the Bioethics Center in late 2025. Children’s Mercy employees and patients may request a consult when there is a recognized ethical concern. Our trained Clinical Ethics Consultants respond to such requests offering education, mediation, and/or recommendations.
