Cardiac Imaging Research Core Lab

The Cardiac Imaging Research Core (CIRC) provides image acquisition, interpretation, and reporting of echocardiographic and vascular studies for use in clinical research.​ The Core provides end-to-end project management for multi- and single-center clinical trials involving cardiac imaging.

Mission


To be a clinical research-focused facility that provides high quality cardiac imaging support for investigators involved in clinical research, in compliance with published standards. ​

Vision 


To define, develop, and expand the state of the art for comprehensive visualization and quantification of cardiac and vascular structure and function. To enable transformation in diagnosis and optimize management of congenital, pediatric, and fetal heart disease.​

Highlights

  • 14 years of experience, 7 contracts providing echocardiography core lab services for FDA studies, with subsequent FDA approval of several devices.
  • Collaborative clinical trial involvement with National Institutes of Health, Pediatric Heart Network (NHLBI) and Additional Ventures.
  • 28 active multi and single center research studies
  • Contributions to multicenter collaborative manuscripts

Team Experience

  • Fulltime Core manager / research sonographer, research team to support IRB submissions, audits and clinical trials design
  • Integrally connected to a high-volume (>20,000 studies per year) echocardiography laboratory, IAC-accredited since 2013 for pediatric and fetal echo.
  • 19 echocardiographers with diverse experience in pediatric, fetal, vascular and advanced imaging providing levels of redundancy / backup for consistent workflow.
  • 25 sonographers certified in pediatric, fetal and vascular imaging.
  • Advanced sonographers for strain analysis, 3D acquisitions, stress echocardiography and vascular pulse wave velocity assessments.
  • Dedicated research sonographers with CITI training and experience
  • Top of the line informatics team provides robust infrastructure designed for universal image management across multiple cardiac imaging modalities and scalability to accommodate large ultrasound imaging volumes.
