How to Apply

The Pediatric Surgical Training Program at Children’s Mercy Hospital participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Candidates who wish to apply for a two-year position as a PSF are required to submit a Common Application Form, Personal Statement, and three letters of recommendation through ERAS (Electronic Resident Application Service). After receipt of the required materials, an interview date is offered to selected applicants. On the day of the interviews, the applicant is interviewed by the teaching staff. After all applicants have been interviewed, a meeting of the teaching staff is held to rank the candidates. These names are placed on a Program Rank Order List which is submitted to the NRMP. Upon notification from the NRMP of who matched at Children’s Mercy Hospital, that person is contacted by the PD. An official contract is provided to him/her prior to the start date.
