Pediatric Orthopedic Fellowship

The Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship Program appoints one fellow each year through the San Francisco Matching Program. Qualified applicants must have completed an ACGME accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency program and/or other criteria as specified by the ACGME Review Committee prior to the beginning of the fellowship. All applicants must pass Step 3 to be considered for fellowship.

International Candidates


For international citizens, Children’s Mercy primarily accepts applicants with J-1 Visa status.  To be eligible for appointment, all international citizens must be sponsored by the ECFMG for the J-1 nonimmigrant Visa classification and have and maintain valid ECFMG certification throughout the length of their training program.  In some cases, Children’s Mercy will sponsor an H-1B Visa.

For international medical graduates the following additional requirements are needed:

  • ECFMG certificate
  • Clinical experience in the United States is preferable
