Pediatric Orthopedic Fellowship

Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Specific Conferences

  • Indications Conference
    • Weekly conference where the cases for the week are presented by the resident or fellow assigned to the case. The faculty involved with the case leads the discussion expanding on the technical aspects of the case and potential challenges.

  • Pediatric Grand Rounds
    • Held every other month where two faculty give the lecture. The fellow will also present a pediatric topic once a year in this series.

  • Hip Conference
    • Cases are presented by the attending and faculty and fellow participate in decision making.

  • Spine Conference
    • Cases are presented by the attending and faculty and fellow participate in decision making.

  • Morbidity & Mortality
    • Quarterly M & M conferences is led by the chief resident.

  • Didactic Case Conference
    • Weekly conference covering the major pediatric orthopedic topics. The fellow will deliver one of these quarterly focusing on the cases that the fellow did and what was learned.

  • Journal Club
    • Held quarterly and is led by one of the faculty members.

  • Non-operative Sports
    • Presented by the non-operative sports faculty on a monthly basis.

GME or Hospital Wide Educational Conferences

  • Core Curriculum Didactics
    • Monthly meeting of fellows from all sub-specialties hospital-wide to address topics common to all ACGME-approved fellowship programs, including leadership development, grant writing and quality improvement.

  • Grand Rounds
    • Weekly conference with local and national speakers presenting pertinent pediatrics topics.

  • Morbidity and Mortality Conference
    • Monthly conference structured to define ways to improve quality of care through the analysis of recent cases.

  • Professor Rounds
    • Case-based presentations with an educational didactic component for hospital staff, prepared and presented by a senior resident each week.

  • Academic Scholarship Conference
    • A unique bi-monthly conference covering topics such as quality improvement, advocacy, research and medical education presented by CMH faculty, along with guest speakers and visiting professors.

  • Statistics Course
    • Monthly biostatistics training with introduction into various analysis techniques.
