Rotations are 4 to 5 weeks in length.
Fellows will have 20 days of paid vacation per academic year. Vacation eligible months are electives and research.
Red Team: 4 weeks on general inpatient pediatric teaching team with residents and medical students, divided into 2-week increments
Silver Team: 1 week on Chronic Care service, 6 additional 12-hour shifts on general inpatient pediatric hospitalist team at downtown Adele Hall campus
Platinum Team: Twelve 12-hour shifts on general inpatient pediatric hospitalist team at Kansas campus
Palliative Care: Monday-Friday day shifts on palliative care team at Adele Hall campus
Transport: Ten 12-hour shifts, may include some nights and weekends
Critical Care: Traditional q4 call in PICU at Adele Hall campus, 4 weekend days off including one golden weekend
PEM: 14 shifts in ED at Adele Hall campus, including 4 weekend shifts and 2 overnight shifts
Sedation: Monday-Friday day shifts at Adele Hall campus
Well Baby Nursery: Monday-Friday day shifts in well baby nursery at Truman Medical Center, 2 weekend shifts
Elective: Opportunities include infectious diseases, neonatology, child abuse and neglect, international health, radiology, additional months in the core rotation series, or other opportunities aimed at meeting the career goals of individual fellows. Elective blocks may be used for research activities.
Research: Four 12-hour shifts on Silver or Platinum including 2 weekend shifts, remainder of time is flexible but fellow is expected to demonstrate consistent progress on scholarly project
Fellows will not have any hospitalist shifts during Palliative Care, Critical Care, Transport, PEM, Sedation, or Well Baby Nursery rotations.
