Academic Curriculum

Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship

Fellows will attend and participate in weekly educational sessions, which utilize active learning techniques, covering all areas of endocrine physiology. These educational sessions will address advances in the pathophysiology, molecular biology, diagnosis, and management of endocrine disorders. Fellows will also spend time at a variety of Children's Mercy regional and outreach sites, where faculty members employ educational methods which further diagnostic and clinical reasoning. 

Curriculum overview


First year

  • 3 months of research

  • 4 half days of outpatient clinic per week during clinical months

  • 4 weeks paid vacation

  • 1 week CME leave

  • Continuous Quality and Performance Improvement Course

Second year

  • 6 months of research

  • 2 half days of outpatient clinic per week during clinical months

  • 4 weeks paid vacation

  • 1 week CME leave

  • Elective in Clinical Genetics

Third year

  • 6 months of research

  • 3 half days of outpatient clinic per week during clinical months

  • 4 weeks paid vacation

  • 1 week CME leave

  • Elective in Adult Endocrinology

  • Board review month
