Meet Midhat Farooqi, MD, PhD; Director of Molecular Oncology; Professor of Pathology, University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine; Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology, University of Kansas School of Medicine. Driven by the idea of finding new ways to understand pediatric cancer as a disease to treat it better, Dr. Farooqi plays a crucial, yet “behind the scenes” role in the Children’s Mercy Molecular Oncology Department. Dr. Farooqi is a clinical pathologist who meets with the Oncology patients’ physicians and introduces genetic testing. He is behind the research that will better understand the tumor, help find the most accurate diagnosis and predict how the tumor will behave in the future.
