Adult community mental health centers

If you have commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid managed care plans or other state Medicaid insurance programs, you should ask about a list of in-network providers. If you currently have no insurance, you may be eligible for coverage through the Affordable Care Act. Go to HealthCare.gov. Please ask to speak with a staff member if you would like help.

Below is a list of community mental health centers which accept Medicaid and most private insurance plans as well as income based payments. Please keep in mind:

• Typically, the first appointment is an initial intake to determine what services are appropriate such as therapy, medication management, case management, etc.
• It is important to note that mental health centers serve individuals in the mental health center’s immediate geographical location. For example, if you live in Johnson County, you will receive services at Johnson County Mental Health.
• Community mental health centers provide mostly outpatient services. Inpatient services vary from center to center.
• If a private practice provider or religious based agency is preferred, ask your Children’s Mercy treatment team for additional referrals.
• If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room.
