Pediatric Sports Medicine

Educational objectives 

  • Demonstrate sufficient musculoskeletal exam skills

  • Understand how to manage sports related conditions including both musculoskeletal and medical conditions

  • Proper management of concussion

  • Understand how to work on a multi-disciplinary team including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and athletic trainers

Elective locations:

  •  CM Blue Valley location: 6750 West 135th St, Overland Park, KS 66223.
  • Children's Mercy Adele Hall Campus
  • Children's Mercy Northland
  • Children's Mercy East
  • Children's Mercy Village West.

Elective duration: Four weeks

Typical schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. 
  • Depending on the time of year, evening or weekend sideline event coverage is an option.
  • No call

Rotation closed: July

Prerequisites: Completion of the Core Pediatric Clerkship and must be in final year of medical school. 

Criteria for passing: Successful clinical evaluation. Complete reading assignments, Complete oral or written project.
