Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Toxicology

The goal of this rotation is to expose students and residents/fellows to a variety of issues within clinical pharmacology and medical toxicology. This includes but is not limited to acute/chronic drug toxicities, chemical toxicities, envenomations, clinical pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, and adverse drug effects. The focus of the rotation is in-patient/emergency department consultations. However, there will be opportunity for out-patient clinic experience with the GOLDILOKs clinic. Environmental home health assessments can also be observed. Additionally, observation at the KU poison control center may be arranged.

Elective duration: Four weeks
Format: variable, can rotate through clinical pharmacology outpatient clinic and see inpatient consults
Typical schedule: Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm
Prerequisites: Completion of the Core Pediatric Clerkship.
Criteria for passing: Satisfactory performance on the clinical evaluation.
Criteria for honors: Outstanding performance on the clinical evaluation.
