Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship

The Department of Ophthalmology at Children's Mercy offers an AAPOS-approved Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship Program.

The mission of the training program is to develop well-trained pediatric ophthalmologists capable of providing exceptional eye care to children and adults with strabismus.

In order to reach this goal, the fellow is considered both a colleague and a student. Teaching plays a vital role in the program. The fellowship program creates and maintains an environment in which the pediatric ophthalmology fellow receives the highest quality of teaching.

The teaching is evidence based and the fellow is given graduated responsibility for patient care. While teaching and learning translate to excellence in patient care, the highest priority of the fellowship is educational and not service.
