How to Apply

Surgical Critical Care Fellowship

The application process for the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Children's Mercy Kansas City is performed outside the match.

Applications are currently accepted through an online fellowship application. In general, the position is filled from the pool of applicants that do not match in pediatric surgery and are endeavoring to expand their exposure to pediatric surgery, as well as their clinical and academic background in order to strengthen their position for the match in pediatric surgery.

Children’s Mercy Hospital primarily accepts international medical graduates for residency and fellowship programs in J-1 visa status.  To be eligible for appointment, all international medical graduates must be sponsored by ECFMG for J-1 non-immigrant classification.  CM will make all reasonable efforts to obtain the requested immigration benefit including the transfer of an existing H1B.  However, we cannot guarantee any specific category of visa or any result, and CM may end or withdraw its sponsorship at any time if sponsorship was no longer feasible due to legitimate business reasons.  CM reserves the right to make final decisions about sponsorship in its discretion and in compliance with U.S. law, regulations, and policy.
