Pediatric Transplant Hepatology Fellowship

The fellow will participate in the following required Conferences

  • Hepatology Journal Club (Every other month) – presents the journal article and facilitate discussion
  • Liver Transplant Conference (Weekly) - presents case and participates in discussion
  • Liver Quality Improvement Meetings (quarterly)
  • Hepatobiliary Radiology Conference (twice a month) – presents case and participates in discussion
  • Liver Transplant Pathology, review all transplant biopsies/explants as transplant team with pathologist (monthly) - presents case and participates in discussions
  • Liver Transplant M&M/Event Review (quarterly)
  • Liver Research Meetings (quarterly) – presents twice a year
  • GI Fellow Wednesday Noon Conference (weekly) - Required for liver topics
  • GI/General Hepatology Pathology Conference (monthly) - required for liver, optional for GI cases. Presents case, participates in discussion
  • GI/General Hepatology Radiology Conference (monthly) - required for liver, optional for GI cases. Presents case, participates in discussion
  • Monday Morning Sign-Out (weekly when on service) - presents case and participates in discussion
  • Hepatology Case Conference (every other month) - presents case twice per year, otherwise participates in discussion and Q&A
  • Common Curriculum (monthly August – May)

 

Optional Conferences include:

  • Hospital-wide opportunities through the Children’s Mercy Berry Institute
  • Additional QI and Research Related Didactics common to all fellows.

Inside Pediatrics: Colson's story

Colson was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and with the help Dr. Julie Bass, Medical Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at Children's Mercy, and his mother, he is now receiving family-centered care.
