Food Guidelines

Do not discuss calories with the patient
Only parents or medical staff are allowed to choose food off meal plan
No modifications to meal plan(s) - unless approved by the eating disorder team
No outside food or drinks
Remove all nutrition labels from food and drinks
If the patient is unable to finish food within the time limit, they must complete Ensure Plus (45 kcal/oz) within 10 minutes
If the patient is unable to finish food and/or Ensure Plus within time limits, a nasogastric tube should be placed
For each meal or snack:
- Pt to complete meals in 30 minutes and snacks in 15 minutes
- If unable to eat food, drink Ensure Plus (45 kcal/oz) within 10 minutes
- If unable to finish food and Ensure Plus (45 kcal/oz) within the time limit, put the remaining Ensure Plus in the nasal gastric tube
