Currently enrolled medical students at accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical schools may request for an elective rotation or sub-internship at Children's Mercy.

University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) medical students who are interested in ongoing research participation must first obtain permission from the associate dean for curriculum at UMKC School of Medicine.

Children's Mercy Hospital is the host site for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine Pediatric Clerkship. Clerkship students also rotate through the NICU at University Health.

The Children’s Mercy Underrepresented in Medicine Elective Program (Mercy + ME) provides qualified fourth-year medical students who have historically been underrepresented in medicine (UIM) an opportunity to experience the outstanding Pediatric training that Children’s Mercy provides.

If you are currently enrolled in a nursing program or have recently graduated from nursing school, you are invited to apply to our "Introductory Staff Nurse" job posting. All hired into our Introductory Staff Nurse position are automatically enrolled into our Nurse Residency Program.

Allied Health and Certificates

Children's Mercy Hospital is committed to providing an established, competitive and highly sought after child life practicum and accredited internship program offering comprehensive, competency based, and hands-on opportunities for students to develop clinical skills and build a solid foundation to begin a career in child life.

The Nutrition Services department at Children’s Mercy offers dietetic internships to students from universities that have a student affiliation agreement with the hospital.

The Hearing and Speech Department is committed to graduate level clinical education in pediatric audiology and speech-language pathology. We offer clinic practicum rotations in both disciplines.

The Music Therapy Internship Program at Children's Mercy is committed to providing a quality learning experience that will enable the student to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to be an effective professional music therapist in a pediatric health care environment.

The Children’s Mercy Clinical Pharmacy Intern Program is designed to allow currently enrolled pharmacy students to grow professionally and academically while being immersed in a clinical hospital pharmacy experience.

Each quarter, Children’s Mercy offers a meaningful opportunity for college students or college graduates to enhance their nonprofit education and experience with a top Philanthropy team at a premier nonprofit through an unpaid internship.

The Clinical Child/Pediatric Psychology Internship Program at Children's Mercy, Kansas City provides intensive training to advanced-level predoctoral psychology students in psychological assessment, treatment, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the context of a dedicated pediatric academic health environment.

Children's Mercy provides a medical interpreter practicum and training program offering comprehensive, hands-on opportunities for students to develop clinical skills and build a foundation for a career as a medical interpreter.

The Section of Psychology at Children’s Mercy offers practicum experiences in assessment and/or intervention for children, adolescents, and families within a pediatric setting.

The Social Work Department at Children’s Mercy has a long history of supporting social work education and is committed to providing quality field instruction for Masters of Social Work (MSW) advanced-level clinical and administrative students.

Research Scholar Award

The Orthopaedic Research Scholar Award promotes clinical research by giving the outstanding medical student the opportunity to investigate pertinent topics in clinical orthopedic research at Children’s Mercy.
