1. What is your current role at CMRI?
I currently serve as the lead coordinator for Bridgette Jones, MD, MSCR, clinical study, “A Histamine Pharmacodynamic Biomarker to Guide Treatment in Pediatric Asthma.” This research focuses on determining whether Histamine Iontophoresis with Laser Doppler (HILD) can predict therapeutic response to antihistamines in children with uncontrolled persistent allergic asthma. The goal of the study is to test a biomarker that could potentially be used to determine whether a particular treatment will work for a child with asthma or not.
2. What drew you to a career at CMRI?
What began as a simple request from a friend, and mentor, ultimately shaped my career path. I was originally hired as an administrative assistant supporting several physicians and researchers in Endocrinology. When Mark Clements, MD, PhD, (formerly of Children’s Mercy), invited me to complete training to assist with his research, his passion and enthusiasm were contagious. I said yes without hesitation, and that moment marked the beginning of a career I truly love.
3. What are your research/career goals?
At this stage in my life, my goal is to be a consistent, reliable and valuable resource to every team I am part of until I retire. I take pride in supporting research efforts behind the scenes, ensuring studies run smoothly, compliantly and efficiently. Being someone, others can depend on, whether for problem-solving, organization or institutional knowledge, is what brings me the most fulfillment in my career.
4. What is your favorite thing about working at CMRI?
My favorite thing about working at CMRI is witnessing the journey from idea to impact. I have the privilege of seeing researchers’ ideas evolve into meaningful studies that directly improve patient care and outcomes. Knowing that the work we do contributes to advancing pediatric medicine and transforming lives makes every day rewarding.
5. What is on your bucket list?
At the top of my bucket list is taking an extended vacation to explore some of the world’s best seafood destinations. As a pescatarian, I love experiencing local cultures through food, especially fresh, thoughtfully prepared seafood. Portugal, Italy, Japan and Chile are among the places I hope to visit.
