Meet Sheng Xia

PhD, Program Manager, Research Lab Resources, Research and Sponsored Projects Administration

1. What is your current role at CMRI?

As the Research Lab Resources Program Manager, I work closely with the Senior Director of Laboratory Operations, the Director of Research Development, the Research Safety Officer and the Program Manager for Research Development to ensure the effective utilization, maintenance and management of CMRI's laboratory resources. As manager of the Shared Resources Core (SRC), I serve as the primary point of contact for shared equipment, helping researchers access the resources they need while addressing equipment-related questions, issues, and operational needs.

2. What drew you to a career at CMRI?

CMRI appealed to me because of its commitment to advancing pediatric research and its collaborative culture, where scientists, clinicians and operational teams work together to accelerate discoveries that make a real difference.

3. What are your research/career goals?

My career goal is to continue strengthening the research infrastructure that enables scientists to do their best work. While I am not conducting laboratory research myself, I am passionate about creating and managing the resources, processes and services that support discovery and innovation across CMRI.

4. What is your favorite thing about working at CMRI?

What I enjoy most about working at CMRI is the opportunity to support a diverse community of researchers who are dedicated to improving the health of children.

5. What is on your bucket list?

1. Experience Japan during cherry blossom season and enjoy its iconic spring scenery, culture and cuisine.
2. Continue exploring United States national parks and discover new landscapes and natural wonders.
