Children’s Mercy Kansas City is the only free-standing children’s hospital between St. Louis and Denver. There are 366 inpatient beds, including the PICU, CICU and NICU. The fellow will spend most of their clinical training with the Palliative Care Team (PaCT), providing a combination of inpatient and outpatient consults, inpatient and outpatient follow-up, and perinatal palliative care.

The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) is a university-based academic institution affiliated with The University of Kansas Health System. The palliative medicine team was established in 1997, and includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and social workers. They have five inpatient physician-led adult palliative care consult teams and a robust interdisciplinary outpatient palliative care program. Additionally, there is one physician-led pediatric palliative care consult team.

Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care (KCHPC) is a not-for-profit hospice established in 1980 serving the greater-KC-metro. Their services include a 32-room hospice house and a robust pediatric and perinatal program known as Carousel.

Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVA) is a member of the VA Heartland Network and provides both inpatient and outpatient medical care, including comprehensive palliative care services, to Veterans.
