Pediatric Sports Medicine

Educational objectives 

  • Demonstrate sufficient musculoskeletal exam skills

  • Understand how to manage sports related conditions including both musculoskeletal and medical conditions

  • Proper management of concussion

  • Understand how to work on a multi-disciplinary team including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and athletic trainers

Site: Rotation will take place primarily at CMH Blue Valley location: 6750 West 135th St, Overland Park, KS 66223. May also spend time at CMH Main, North, and East.

Elective duration: One month

Maximum enrollment: One

Prerequisites: Completion of Core Pediatric, Family Medicine, and Surgery Clerkships

Schedule information: Primarily office based 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 1 day of observing outpatient surgery. 1-2 days physical therapy. Occasional night time event coverage of sports event with attending.
