Neonatal Follow-Up Services

Neonatal Follow-Up services are provided in the Special Care Clinic for infants with special health care needs concerning growth, development, and health difficulties. Many patients are graduates of the neonatal intensive care unit.

Neonatal Follow-Up Staff

Our team includes pediatricians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and dietitians. The team works closely with other pediatric subspecialists, including cardiologists, pulmonologists, neurologists, developmental pediatricians, and speech, occupational and physical therapists.

Program Services

Many of them require specialized equipment including apnea monitors, saturation monitors, oxygen, ostomies gastrostomy tubes, and feeding pumps which are followed by our clinic. Care usually transitions to a primary care provider once children reach 2-3 years old.

Program Highlights

  • Our program provides frequent follow up to assist the child and caregivers with transition to home from the NICU.
  • We work with primary care doctors to manage medical equipment and oxygen weaning.
  • We can coordinate with occupational and physical therapy for joint visits.
  • A provider is available to families by phone 24 hours a day for questions or problems.
