Checking In and Out
At Children’s Mercy, the patient’s parents and/or legal guardians are an important part of their health care team. We want to make being with your child as easy as possible while you’re here.
Here’s how we keep patients safe while streamlining access for parents/guardians:
- Please bring your ID. For legal guardians who are not parents, please bring proof of guardianship.
- When you first check in, you will be given a green wristband for 24/7 access.
- You will use this wristband to check in and out during your child’s stay. You’ll scan your wristband at kiosks throughout the hospital.
- Scan your wristband when you arrive at the Guest Services check-in desk in the Main Lobby.
- This will let you go to your child’s room with no delays.
- Scan your wristband when you arrive at your child’s room at the nurse’s desk.
- This tells your team you are with your child and accepting visitors.
- Scan your wristband when you leave your child’s room.
- This tells your team only approved visitors can visit your child. No one else will be allowed after you check out.
- Scan your wristband and tap the kiosk to add approved visitors who can visit your child when you’re not there.
- Names must match the legal name on government issued ID. Nicknames are not recognized in passage point.
