Integrated Pest Management in Multi-Family

The Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Multi-Family Housing course teaches property managers how to implement a comprehensive integrated pest management (IPM) program in their housing developments. The IPM course helps to bring key community stakeholders together, especially resident leaders, to provide training on the skills and practices needed to effectively eliminate pests such as cockroaches and rodents from multi-family housing by the most economical means and with the least amount of harm to the residents.  

The IPM course is presented through a partnership between Healthy Housing Solutions, Children’s Mercy Kansas City, and the Kansas City MO Health Dept.

Target audiences 

Pest Management Professionals, Property Managers, Resident Support Services, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Grounds/Landscaping, Residents.

What you’ll learn


  • Participants will learn about their specific roles in supporting the least toxic and most effective measures for pest control in their communities.

  • Participants will learn about the major health risks posed by common pests including the connection between Asthma and cockroach and mouse allergens; along with the biology and behavior of at least two (2) pests, least toxic controls and who to contact.

  • Participants will also learn about potential violations of law, policy or contract and report it to the proper person at housing authority.
