Donate Goods FAQs

Children’s Mercy is always in need of items that help patients and families feel more at ease during their time at the hospital. You can view our current list of needed items here. Before collecting donations, we recommend reviewing the hospital’s Safe Donation Guidelines.

We’re so glad you asked! Please schedule a drop off here to bring your donations to:

Children’s Mercy Adele Hall Campus
2401 Gillham Road
Kansas City, MO 64108

Because of privacy laws, you may not personally deliver items to Children's Mercy patients. Learn more about donating toys and other items to Children's Mercy.

Unfortunately, our other locations are not equipped to accept donations at this time. We ask that donors allow staff at these locations to focus on what they do best — treating kids — and only bring donations to Children’s Mercy Adele Hall Campus, where staff and volunteers can accept and provide a receipt for your items. Schedule a donation drop off now!

We always appreciate donations of the following popular items:

  • New unused coloring books
  • New unused crayons
  • New clothes

To ensure the health and safety of all patients and hospital visitors, all donations must be new merchandise. For a full list of restrictions and donation guidelines, please click here.

We do have some restrictions and guidelines when it comes to donated items for patients and families. Our number one priority is always the safety of our patients, so we ask that all donors review the hospital’s Safe Donation Guidelines before donating any toys, clothes or items. Some important things to keep in mind when collecting donations:

  • We cannot accept Nerf guns, spray guns, water guns, pop ball guns, bow and arrow or toy knives.
  • All items must be new and in original packaging (with tags) and odor-free.
  • Because Children’s Mercy is non-denominational and out of respect for the diverse beliefs of our patients and families, we ask that donors refrain from including religion-themed donations.
  • Help us keep patients safe by only donating items that are non-toxic, non-violent and do not contain latex.

No, donors may not distribute donations. To ensure the health, safety and privacy of all patients and families, all donations are distributed under the direction of the Volunteer and Guest Services and Child Life Departments. To schedule your donation drop off please click here.

Definitely! First, we just want to make sure we have your fundraiser tracked, so we can provide as much support as possible, including sending you a digital copy of the hospital’s logo. Please take a moment to share more about your fundraising event by submitting our Organize a Fundraiser Application.

Once we receive your form we’ll review and approve your event details and send you an electronic version of the Children’s Mercy logo. We do ask to see any use of the hospital logo prior to it going to print.

If you would like to have a formal check presentation at your location or at the hospital, we are happy to do so. Simply let your Children’s Mercy representative know or email events@cmh.edu, preferably two weeks in advance if possible and we’ll get something set up!

We’re glad you asked! Submitting the application helps us plan how to best support and promote your event.
