ACL Injury Prevention and Sports Performance Program

Having adequate strength in your hips and thighs is key to providing support for your knees and preventing ACL injuries. The Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Mercy is taking registrations for the student-athlete ACL Injury Prevention and Sports Performance Program.
The Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Mercy offers the first and only ACL Injury Prevention & Performance Program in the Kansas City area operated and managed by athletic trainers and sports physical therapists with sports medicine physician oversight. The six-week program focuses on agility, landing mechanics and strengthening of the lower extremity.
Target Audience
Athletes ages 13-18
Objectives

Explain proper dynamic warm-up for sport preparation

Demonstrate proper landing mechanics with control of knee position

Improve postural awareness during dynamic activities

Demonstrate increased strength with isokinetic testing

Reduce risk factors for ACL injuries
