Having adequate strength in your hips and thighs is key to providing support for your knees and preventing ACL injuries. The Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Mercy is taking registrations for the Sport Athlete ACL Injury Prevention Program.
This is the first and only ACL injury prevention program in the Kansas City area operated and managed by athletic trainers and physical therapists with sports medicine physician oversight. In this 6-week program you will learn proper techniques while focusing on landing mechanics and strengthening of the lower extremity. Our goal is to help keep you from being sidelined with an ACL injury.
Athletes ages 13-18
Reduction of risk factors for ACL injuries
Explain proper dynamic warm-up for sport preparation
Demonstrate proper landing mechanics with control of knee position
Improve postural awareness during dynamic activities
Demonstrate increased strength with isokinetic testing
Integrate home exercise program for continued maintenance
