Environmental Health Healthy Homes for Community Health Workers

The Healthy Homes for Community Health Workers (CHW) is a one-day course designed to teach participants how to provide healthy-homes education the community. Participants will learn the connection between health and housing and how to take a holistic approach when educating the public. This course is ideal for community health workers but is also beneficial to other professionals. 

The course provides a variety of perspectives and experiences through practice sessions and hands-on exercises.

The course is presented through a partnership between Healthy Housing Solutions, Children's Mercy Kansas City, and the Kansas City MO Health Department.

Target Audience

Community health workers and advocates, health educators, public health nurses, cooperative extensive agents.

What You'll Learn

Participants will learn how to teach one-on-one and large groups education on healthy homes.
They will also learn to offer general advice about specific healthy homes problems and discuss different approaches on how to make healthy home recommendations to families, property owners and other community members.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion by the National Center of Healthy Housing. Nurses have been approved for 6 continuing education units (CEU).
