Sometimes there is more to enjoying a healthy lifestyle than just exercise and diet. Our community provides many resources to help meet the unique needs of every family.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Volunteers serve as mentors and role models, helping children (who are primarily from one-parent homes) gain greater self-confidence. Volunteers and children spend 2-4 hours per week doing activities together that build friendship and guide the child toward their fullest potential.

Boys and Girls Club

It provides a fun and safe environment for youth, ages 5-18, to learn, play, meet new friends, and grow. It promotes the development of self-esteem, values, and skills for boys and girls, with special emphasis on youth from disadvantaged circumstances.

They offer multiple services including life-skills classes and food.

Family Conservancy

Helps children and families achieve a lifetime of success by offering parenting skills, child care information, and education (technical assistance and professional development events) including children with special needs and emergency assistance with food.

Healthy Hawks Clinic (Kansas University Medical Center)

A comprehensive treatment program to help children, adolescents, and their families overcome issues related to weight. Their goal is to provide families with information about making healthy changes.
