Statistical Evidence. Chapter 7. Where is the evidence? Searching for information (June 29, 2005)

In a book like this, it would be difficult to give a comprehensive overview of how to search the published literature to find all the research studies associated with a particular treatment or a particular disease.

Here, I want to give you a quick overview of some of the issues associated with searching. I do a lot of searches to find good teaching examples. That's not quite the same thing as finding all the studies associated with a disease, but you may find some of the tricks I have learned to be helpful. You should discuss any serious literature search, though, with a professional librarian.
